What's happening after half term...?

Numeracy:

In numeracy we are going to look at measurements and converting of measures!

Literacy:

In literacy we are going to look at autobiographies and biographies! We will start off analysing texts and working out our success criteria! We will have a go at writing a biography for a our own character - a chance for us to get creative and imaginative! We will then begin to write a biography for Alexander the Great - linking with our new topic!

Topic:

Alexander the Great is a clue for our new topic! Of course, we will be looking at Ancient Greece! This will cover many topics of the curriculum, including history, geography, literacy and art!

ICT - a whole class of teachers!

Last week, the children of Rainforest base spent time with the year 3 class, showing them how to present their information texts as powerpoint presentations. Mrs Thomas was really impressed with how much her class learnt and how they were able to then finish their work independently. A massive thank you from Mrs Thomas, who is now planning her retirement!

Designing Bridges!

Today we looked at different structures and designed our own bridges. Our objective was to make them withstand as much weight as possible! The work that was produced was very successful! Some of the toughest bridges were able to hold over 8kg! Well done year 6!

Welcome to Year 6!

It's that time again! The start of a new year!

Our first topic this year is The Rainforest - as we are Rainforest Base! It is going to be a very exciting topic which will cover many of our subject areas - and it's a chance for us to get very creative!

I hope you are all as excited as I am now to embark on this new academic year!
